COACH
CHRISTIAN VALVANO

About the Coach

Coach Christian has spent the last 16 years building an elite hockey consulting and training company to serve youth and professional hockey players aspiring to elevate their on-ice performance and hockey IQ. He’s committed to the philosophy that an athlete’s on-ice performance develops with a combination of targeted off-ice movement work and on-ice skills training. Christian focuses on developing player confidence and maturing strengths, as well as identifying weaknesses and implementing tailored training to impact growth.

Coach Christian has a strong portfolio of work, featuring athletes across ages and levels, from youth to professional. In addition to his leadership at Hockey Gainz, Christian currently serves as the on- and off-ice performance Coach for the Montclair Blues - a youth hockey club based out of Floyd Hall Arena in Montclair, NJ.

Early in his career, Christian also served as an assistant Coach for Montclair State's men’s hockey team for three seasons. In his first two years, Christian helped the program reach the ACHA Division 2 national tournament.

Prior to coaching, Christian played college hockey at Towson University, as well as junior hockey for the NJ Wildcats. In high school, he was a standout varsity player and captain at Randolph, helping the team win the NJSIAA public state championship in 2003.

As an elite young player, Christian knew he wanted to pursue a professional career in hockey. Love of the game runs throughout the Valvano family with older brother Matty, Coaching in Maryland and his father still Coaching for Randolph High School.

Off the ice, Christian is an avid fan of music and loves listening to inspiring podcasts. He resides in Hoboken, NJ.
